randomly taking pictures of people

Good morning, Well, it’s my 5th day of zero carbs zero alcohol. Tonight will be the true test. I have to photograph a karaoke party for the new bar on West 4th Street, Boho Star owned by Koreans. Anyway, I should get by that pretty easily.

I’d like to talk about yesterday. I spent a lot of time with Mr. 7th Avenue, the 25-year hustler of 7th Avenue. He’s been around there for that amount of time. This guy’s very, very sharply dressed. He knows every type of suit, pants, shoes. When people walk down the street, he points out a lot of things to me. I’m learning a lot about fashion and of course I’m capturing with the camera. So eventually when these pictures catch up, we’ll have a little special blog about the real fashion of the garment district.

I stayed outside for a long time yesterday because business in Manhattan is very slow selling cameras so I spent a lot of time outside. A couple of big office buildings surrounding this Rock and Soul store I’m at. So a lot of people coming in and out right in front of me and I’m mistakenly taking their picture two or three times which is making them stop. This happens into a lot of places. So, I’m dealing with that right now.  the police came the other day, someone called.

A lot of people like to smoke cigarettes, they’re in the office building, they come outside to smoke and they all like to watch me. I get this kind of funny – this tall guy with this camera standing in the middle of town which is just randomly taking pictures of people. Kind of looks like a crazy person. If use my subconscious and look down about what I’m doing, it’s pretty crazy looking. But I think I’m capturing New York like nobody else. I love to do it and I think I’m accomplishing something. Like I always say, I’ll never capture everyone in New York City but I’ll pretty much did every type.

Tonight should be interesting – photographing and partying with no alcohol. This no carb thing is really running me low in energy.

Signing off.
